Trip to Florida... quilt shops

We are back from a trip to Florida. It was nice to see the blossoming trees a sure sign the Spring was coming! On the way we stopped at Savannah, GA.

I was happy to see some Palm trees , too.

In Florida we stopped at shop "Fireside Quilts" near the high way, but the store recently moved so we went to the new location.

It was a nice shop with lots a batiks and bright fabrics!

Below are my purchases: I got some '30 prints ....

.... this Loralie Designs fabric just spoke to me. You know the feeling. It was on National Quilting day so the store had 20% off sale and the owner gave 1/4 yard extra of the fabric.

My mother-in-law got me the print below from a shop in Orlando. Isn't just perfect to go with the fabric above.

It's always good to be back home, but it is so cold here.

Stay tuned for more Florida pictures, till then Happy sewing!

Bunny Hop

I made this adorable quilt for my LQS. It has a panel in a middle and then pieced border. It was very easy and fast project. The shop has only few left, hop to it here. You can also go to my LQS blog for show and tell pictures.

I quilted it on a domestic machine. Nothing fancy, simple quilting in a ditch and on the border I did a little wave around the bunnies. It was a fun project. I got a panel to make one for me too. It's on my list, just need more time.

I quilted my secret project I was showing sneak previews and I hope to do the binding soon, be patient! :))

It's finally warming up after poring rain on the weekend. I am ready for Spring!

Until next time, Happy sewing!

Inspiration at Quilt Fest, NJ

Last Saturday, my husband took me as a B-day gift to a Quilt show in NJ. The weather is finally warming up and it was a beautiful day. I got a lot of inspiration off the pretty quilts and I want to share some with you.

The first quilt is made by Anna Faustino, PA. The quilt is called "Butterfly Dance" and I love the embellishments, she used crystals.

"Simply Strawberries" is made by H. Titus, PA and the name says it all! Pretty!

I love Stack and Whack quilts. I have a book and one UFO using that method. The quilt bellow is made by Carol Scullin,NJ and she used only one fabric and you can see there a lot of different blocks. She made it for her son that is a graphic designer.

The next quilt is"Circle of Life" made by Linda French, OH. It won Best of show!
The description says: "...is my first attempt at "design as you go" and has been the most fun exhirating and fun experience ever. The door is open and may the key be lost forever!"
I believe there is a designer in everyone!

Here is " Blue Butterfly Day" made by Sarah O'Sullivan, PA. It was made as a part of a challenge "Black & White & Hmmm....All over". I started to collect black and white prints and I thought she did an amazing job at it!

The last quilt I am showing is a yo -yo quilt. I think the designer did an amazing job at the picking colors and executing it. The quilt is made by Manon Gadliardi, CT and it's called "Cathedral Window".

Here is a close up:

I would like to Thank everybody for the Birthday wishes! I wish I could share my cake with you.

I made Hummingbird cake, it had pineapple, bananas and walnuts and it was delicious. Here is the recipe I used.

Till next time, Happy sewing!

Sewing updates

Here is the latest blocks #3, I stitched for my Cobblestone lane BOM project. Here you can see the previous blocks. These ones took me few days to complete, but I think they are very pretty! I did change it, by accident. :) The block that has the square in the middle was supposed to face the other way, but after I saw it I think I like it even better.

I also made these blocks that Karen from Sew Many Ways asked us to make for her friend Jodi. I made them last night, I just have to write my message and ship it to her.

I was sewing in my sewing room when I saw this sunset. It had even stronger colors in person!

Happy sewing to everyone and I am off to make a cake, because it's my B-Day! I am trying a new recipe, so it should be fun!

Winnings and Quilting

Last week was a lucky one for me! I won Yuki's giveaway and she shipped it to me very fast.

I won a kit to make a Compass block. I haven't made one before and I see I have to use a foundation paper and templates. It will be a challenge and fun! Thank you so much Yuki! I think she has more to give away so make sure to stop by her blog here.

Caroline from The Contented Quilter awarded me this Blogger award! Thank you so much Caroline for thinking of me! She designs her own very creative quilts, if you have a moment stop by her lovely blog.

I have to pass this award to 7 other bloggers:

Kathy at Humble Quilter,
Yuki at Yuki Quilts,
Lola at And Sew On...,

and all my followers!

I have to tell you 7 things you don't know about me, but if you read my blog you probably know a lot! :)

I was busy this weekend, I quilted this Fall panel for a gift for my sister-in-law's family. They live in Hawaii so this will remind them of Pennsylvania.
