Trip to Florida... quilt shops

We are back from a trip to Florida. It was nice to see the blossoming trees a sure sign the Spring was coming! On the way we stopped at Savannah, GA.

I was happy to see some Palm trees , too.

In Florida we stopped at shop "Fireside Quilts" near the high way, but the store recently moved so we went to the new location.

It was a nice shop with lots a batiks and bright fabrics!

Below are my purchases: I got some '30 prints ....

.... this Loralie Designs fabric just spoke to me. You know the feeling. It was on National Quilting day so the store had 20% off sale and the owner gave 1/4 yard extra of the fabric.

My mother-in-law got me the print below from a shop in Orlando. Isn't just perfect to go with the fabric above.

It's always good to be back home, but it is so cold here.

Stay tuned for more Florida pictures, till then Happy sewing!

On the road... Raffle quilt ....fabrics

I saw this beautiful raffle quilt on a display in Chestertown, Maryland.

I bought two tickets so wish me luck! :)
It will benefit Crossroads Community Foundation.

I was on a search for a quilt shop, but the town didn't have one and then I saw it!

Chestertown had a lot of little shops that was a pleasure to window shop. We enjoed the view of the frozen river.

On the drive home I found a quilt shop called "Quilter's hive" in DE. They were having a class and had a lot of fabric.

I wasn't looking for any specific fabric so I got half a yard of this pretty print. I usually get in a lot of trouble at quilt shops, so I did good! :)

After I was so good, I realized I need backing for one of my PhD projects, so I ordered online from delta patchwork some fabrics.

I love the packaging and the fabric was very nice, too.

Happy sewing!

What a Surprise from Millie!

I got a package in the mail yesterday. It was a big box full of goodies from my friend Millie. She deleted her blog by mistake and I felt so bad for her, after all the time and love she put into it. I am so excited she decided to blog again!
I opened the box and I found this pretty bag!!! I love the colors and the pink tissues :-)
She must of gone crazy to send me so much stuff, I was stunned! She sent me lots of pretty fabrics, a wonderful book "Easy Does it for Friends", a very cute card and a box of chocolates. I started eating them right away! :-)

I have never seen these fabrics or this book. It is amazing how every shop has different fabrics!
There is a very cute Christmas panel. I will show it after I make it into a wall hanging! :)
I love these pastel colors, there are so feminine!
This is a view of one of the pages of the book and I made a "border" around it with the fabrics from Millie! This is the cutest book I've seen! I like all the projects in it!
I can't say enough Thank You Millie!

Four Quilt Shops on the way to Chicago from PA

I got this two winter fabrics at the first shop "Heirloom Quilting and Antiques " we stopped at.
I was on the way out when I saw the sheep fabric and I had to get half a yard for the quilt I will make for my mom. She and my dad used to have a mini farm with one or two sheep we used to butcher every year.
After that we visited a little quilt shop that I didn't find inspiration fabric, so I was good and didn't buy anything. Next, we visited "The Door Mouse" which is a must see shop in Ohio. They've got lots, lots bolts. I got a lot of Christmas fabrics and I couldn't resist the butterfly fabric :) My husband has a great taste, he picked these fabrics and I will sew the quilt! Pretty!

"Quiltology" is a very modern city shop in Chicago. They have bright colors, lots of Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett fabrics.
I got a neat Blue Santa panel and some fabrics that will go with some of my stash. I wanted to get some of the Amy Butler fabrics, but I felt guilty because I have a few yards in hand and haven't done much with it. I loved the green tissue paper the owner wrapped my purchases, so I took the picture with it.
