Surprise in the mail and Christmas Block!

I received a lovely surprise in the mail yesterday! My blogging friend Cathy - From Cathy with Love sent me PIF (pay it forward) gift! I was so excited when I saw the lovely creations she made for me!

The pincushion is the best pincushion you can have! Cathy has another blog Made-with-love-by-Cathy that she sells her sewing creations on. If you would to see some of the other pincushions she has made she has a slide show on her blog and if you email her she can custom make one for you too. That would make a great gift!

I love the pincushions and needle book! I will use the pincushion every time I sew! I mean every time because she sent me a big one for by my machine and a small one to use when hand sewing!

Bellow is a Christmas block I made for my LQS. You buy from them a fat 1/8 for a dolar and when you make the block of your choice you get your dolar back. But you can win all the blocks that participate in the game, so wish me luck!
Until next time,
stay cool!

I Spy Fabrics, Hawaii and Obvious Store

I received the fabric from the "I spy" swap I signed in. Karen from "Sew Many Ways" organized it and I am very very happy I participated. Thank you Karen for organizing it! If you haven't visited Karen's blog you are missing her Tool Time Tuesday posts where she looks at tools and stuff around the house outside of the box!

Each person had to get 3 fabrics and cut 40 - 5'' squares and mailed it to Karen with self addressed envelope. I was so exciting when I received my fabric and was going through it like reading a book! :)

Karen was so sweet and make for everyone a necklace pin cushion! Thank you Karen! I love mine! You can store a small scissor and pins and on the other end you can skew a bobbin with your thread for sewing and then the nut will hold it there. Here is the tutorial of it if you would like to make your own.

I organized the fabric in few categories: food, sports, novelty, animals and sewing and knitting. The top row fabrics are the ones I sent: with lady bugs, chickens and bats. I can make a few very cute quilts with all the fabrics and I decided to start adding more novelty fabrics to my collection.

I wanted to share the picture of the Hawaiian coffee and chocolates we received from my sister-in-law and family. They are so good, that's why I am just sharing the picture. :) It was great seeing them and now they are on their way back to Hawaii. Have a nice trip guys!

Talking about family I want to give a shout out to my brother-in-law's "State the Obvious Store". If you are looking for a last moment gift to someone who has everything and likes humor you should check it out!

I am working on a couple Christmas gifts so I can't share pictures, yet!

Happy sewing!

Daisy Pincushion and the rest of the quilts

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! I did!

Me and Heather finished the matching pincushions we worked on between projects. They are so adorable and pretty big, too. The pincushion is around 6"X 3". Heather picked the colors so the pincushion looks like a giant daisy!

The pattern for "Wild Flower Pincushion" can be found in "Bags, Pillows & Pincushions" Magazine:

I also did some Black Friday shopping. I got my first Honey buns from Greenfairyquilts.com These are my first honey buns. I don't know what I am doing with them yet. They might be good for a mini quilt since they are 1,5 ''.

I also visited my local quilt shop "Happy Sewing Room" and got these fat quarters. The red one is their Christmas present.

Here are the rest of the Eastern PA Shop-hop tour. The quilt below is the sample made by "Endless Mountains Quiltworks". This was a very nice shop and I like their quilt, but it was the fardest for us to go to. We were lucky and had a driver that day. Thank you Scot for driving me and Heather to the shops!
Here is the quilt at "118fabrics" shop. I like the border of the quilt.
Here is the " J&B Craft Supplies & Fabric" Store in Nescopeck, PA.

And the last shop we visited was "Quilting in the Valley". Their quilt is pretty, too.
I hope I got all the shops and matching quilts right! :) Me and Heather had fun during the shop hop and got a lot of fabrics for couple of projects! ;)

I also received my 5'' squares from the I spy swap I was in, but I will have to show you next time!

Until then, Happy sewing!!!
