Florida trip continued...

More of our Florida trip:

These were some of the flowers in front of our hotel. Coming from the north it was like a miracle that flowers were blooming.

I love the palm trees!

Our hotel in Orlando was like oasis to me! It had spa, 2 giant fire pits, 3 pools, including a lazy river and the pool was open until 11. I wish I was there now. :)

Above is a picture of the giant Convention centre we could walk from our hotel to. It just happens that there was a Home & Flower show while we were there, so me and my mother-in-law went.

These are some contemporary decoration for your garden, I think they might be a little too big for mine! :))

Some nice flower displays and ideas for local gardens. I haven't seen any palm trees around here.

The butterfly was painted on a concreate. I guess even concrete doesn't have to boring anymore.

I like the smart idea for more storage in the garage. You think I can store fabrics up there? :)

Have you heard of Crystal Soil? I got some to try it out! I just love the colors!

It was fun, but there is no place like home!

Trip to Florida... quilt shops

We are back from a trip to Florida. It was nice to see the blossoming trees a sure sign the Spring was coming! On the way we stopped at Savannah, GA.

I was happy to see some Palm trees , too.

In Florida we stopped at shop "Fireside Quilts" near the high way, but the store recently moved so we went to the new location.

It was a nice shop with lots a batiks and bright fabrics!

Below are my purchases: I got some '30 prints ....

.... this Loralie Designs fabric just spoke to me. You know the feeling. It was on National Quilting day so the store had 20% off sale and the owner gave 1/4 yard extra of the fabric.

My mother-in-law got me the print below from a shop in Orlando. Isn't just perfect to go with the fabric above.

It's always good to be back home, but it is so cold here.

Eastern Pennsylvania Shop Hop '09- First Day

Yesterday was a fun day of shop hopping! Me and my friend Heather went to four shops. During shop hop you can purchase a passport and then visit all the participating shops to get stamped and qualify for big prizes. Each shop sells a block and each shop puts it together differently. You are able to purchase a block at each shop. We decided not to buy the blocks and instead shoped other fabrics.

First we went to Easton to the "At Piece Quiltery". I forgot to take picture of their shop hop quilt. I bought a special fabric for a Christmas gift, I hope when is done the recipient will like it!

After that we were on the way to Stroudsburg, they are two shops there. Below is the "American Ribbon" shop hop sample.

Then we were on the way to Effort to visit "Country Quiltery".

We thought we would have a hard time finding that store since the GPS couldn't find the address, but we found it easily! They served local apple cider outside the shop. I took a picture of Heather as she was taking a cup.

We had fun at all shops, we bought a lot of pretty fabrics! Here is a part of my loot! :)

Trip to MA

I was pretty busy lately, but isn't it everybody! Last week I went with Scot on a business trip to Massachusetts and the colors on nature were amazing driving through New England. More north we went you could see some bare trees, but most of the trees still had their leaves changing colors!

We pass through few states: from Pennsylvania we went through New york and Connecticut to get to Massachusetts. On the way back we hit some really heavy traffic in New York so next time we will go around it!

The beauty of travel is that I get to visit new quilt shops and they are all unique! The First one was right off the high way and very easy to find is called "Emma's Quilt Cupboard". It's a big shop with lots of different lines of fabrics and lots of books and patterns. They have a unique system where they enter your info into a computer and every time you shop you collect points and I think when you spend $150 they send you a gift card. They offer a lot of classes and they had lots of samples in the store. I got some 1930's fabrics and few other fabrics I will show you later. When I got home I received a Thank You card from them! Very thoughtful!

The second quilt shop we stopped at is "Heartbeat Quilts" in Hyannis on a beautiful Cape Cod and they had a lots of original patterns and lots of fabric! Beautiful shop and you can see even outside they have paintings on the walls. They had a lot of samples and think their big thing is that they have lots of kits and original light houses patterns. They have a "stash room" where all the fabric was $4.99 so I got "few yards" :)

I am happy I got to visit my cousin Irina in Cape Cod. We grew up together in the same house. Her husband Rosen took us to the beach and I got some sand for a decoration project for my sewing room :)
