The Coffee Quilt

Here it is! Finally pieced. I tried to take picture on the floor but the quilt was too wide, so I have seen people take pictures on their frames and that worked! The next step will be start practicing with the frame and quilting it!

The borders took more time then I thought, but it's worthed! It was my hubby's idea to add blocks on the corners.

I was thinking that I didn't make a mistake in the whole quilt and here I did. Thankfully it was very easy to fix!

I had to think how I want my top border to face and I decided to face all the mugs up, so it doesn't spill the coffee! :)

I had fun working on the quilt and I am excited is pieced!

Happy sewing!

Autumn Decorations and Quilt Show

I love this Autumn arrangement! We got it as Anniversary present from my brother-in-law. Bret made it! He picked apples and oranges and made that branch into a heart shape! Thank you Bret is lovely and very thoughtful gift!

Last weekend we went to a Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza in Oaks. Here are some of my favorite quilts:

I did a little shopping:

Enjoy the fall cooler weather and happy sewing!

Wedding Aniversary and New fabrics

Today is our 5th Wedding Anniversary!

This is a picture we took on a walk the other day. I think it is a neat picture with our shadows.

.
I just loved this gazebo we saw on our walk. Looks so peaceful.

This is my present my lovely husband surprised me with few days ago. I did needed new speakers for my laptop, but those are fancy ones.

We had a sewing night with my friend Heather and he came back with this box wrapped in fabric. I was very surprised!

My husband is very sweet, he even said I can go buy more fabric! So I went to my LQS "Happy Sewing Room". I just love this line with birdies called Hopscotch, from Red Rooster Fabrics.

This ones are Henry Glass called Meet Me in the Meadow.

I had to get some of this poppy fabric too!

I got inspired by new fabric and I design a quilt, but it's a still work in progress.

Have a great weekend!

Coffee Quilt and Squaring Tip

I have been working on my "Coffee quilt". If you remember I blogged about it here and I see it's been almost a year. Good things take time, right? :)

I made four more blocks to make the quilt longer. How do you like the new placement of the blocks? I used Sudoku game to help me to place the blocks. I tried not to have the same color twice in a row or column. As you see, I made tiny mistake, but I still like how all colors work together!

Here is one of the extra blocks still on the hoop on my Brother machine. Coffee to go anyone?

Here is a Squaring tip I promised. I saw on Pat's blog that she saw tutorial here how to use a freezer paper to square up blocks that are a little smaller then the size you want them to be.

I ironed strips of freezer paper to the sides I needed a little extra.

Then you square up to the desired size.

I have to say that I didn't like sewing with the freezing paper so used it mostly as a guide and removed it before sewing that seam. I always like to try new tips! My MIL did a great tutorial how to block a quilt block, hop there to check it out!

Here is a close up how my embroidery blocks turn out:

I added sashing and now I have to add borders. Stay tuned for the finished quilt!

Happy sewing!

Halloween Quilt

I hope everyone had a fun Labor day weekend!

Look what is on my homemade design wall!
I pieced this Halloween project today. I decided to enter "What is on your Design wall?" at Judy's blog.

It's a simple project. It's a panel and I made a stripe border around it and then I pieced another border. Now it needs to be quilted on time for Halloween. I love the colors on the quilt!

Happy sewing!
