Brasstown Star Quilt Top

Here is my latest project. I pieced "Brasstown Star" top for my local quilt shop as a sample for the pattern. I think you can see better the colors of the fabrics on my lilac bush.

The quilt is different for me. I haven't done many scrappy looking quilts, so picking the fabrics and where they go was one of the hard parts of making this quilt. Don't get me wrong I do love playing with the fabrics and colors! :)

Here is the quilt laying on the couch so you can see the layout.

Here is the pattern "Brasstown Star" by Pacific Patchwork. The pattern is part of her block of the month club called Block Party. You can see the details here. You can join with her or you can sign with my LQS, details here.

It is a beautiful day here, take time to smell the flowers! :)

Secret Quilt .... Revealed

Finally I can show the secret project I was working on. Remember the previews I showed here.
I made this quilt as a Birthday gift for my friend Heather.

Here is the quilt on my in-laws porch. I showed her the quilt and she loved it! I just have to add the label and I will give it to her!

I saw these gorgeous hyacinths in their garden. They are one of my favorite flowers! I will plant more next fall.

The fabric line is called Feline Friendship from Henry Glass. It was a free project on their site. You have to go to the project library to find it. You can download the free pattern here. I changed it a bit and added few other fabrics.

Here are few more close ups of the quilting...

I love the backing fabric and how the quilt is wrinkled after washing it.

Those tulips are in my garden. I am behind on my garden work, I hope to catch up this weekend.

Have a great weekend!

Pennsylvania Inspired Quilt is Done and I Won Big Time!

Here is the Pennsylvania inspired quilt all done and washed. I did the binding in the car on the way to Florida. I wished I had more quilts to do in the car. I will plan it better next time. The quilt is already in Hawaii as it was a gift for my sister-in-law family.

There are close ups of the quilting as my camera batterie died and I couldn't take more pictures of the finished and washed quilt.

Now.... for the Big Win! I won Karen's giveaway over at her blog
If you have never visited her blog, you should, but I should warn you it's very addicting. Every Tuesday she writes Tool Time Tuesday tutorials where she looks at stuff and uses it in different ways then it's meant to be.

Karen sent me this Huge Box full of goodies to make some of her many Tool Time Tuesday creations.

They are so many goodies in there. One of the first things I want to make is a car sewing caddy, she wrote a tutorial here. Thank you Karen for done all the shopping for me and I just have to make it!

I first found Karen't blog when I was looking how to make a Design Wall. Here you can see the Design wall I made using her tutorials. Karen also has a "Friends on Friday" and she wrote about my design wall on her blog, you can check it here.

There is only one item I am not sure where she used it. If you look at the picture above on the bottom there is something orange that looks like a hanger.... Please Karen help me. :)

She also included two fat quarters...

... and two patterns.
I can't complain, I feel so lucky! Thank you very much Karen!

Happy sewing!

Universal and Fabric Hop

Here are few more pictures of our trip to Florida. We were lucky to be able to visit Universal Studious Parks.

I think the pictures "talk" for themselves! :))

I visited a quilt shop near Miami called "Sunshine Sewing Company"...

.... and I got the Sunflower pattern for my mother-in-law and the mouse fabric for my sister-in-law, the pansy fabric is for me! :)
I also stopped at "Byrd's Nest Quilt Shop" in Ormond Beach. The store has a beautiful location just 2 blocks from the beach and lots of pretty fabrics.

I found this beautiful print that will make an amazing table runner.

Here some photos of the beach!

I loved how the sand had this bronze shine!

We were also lucky to see this star fish. I haven't seen one before.

It was a dreamy trip, I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Florida trip continued...

More of our Florida trip:
These were some of the flowers in front of our hotel. Coming from the north it was like a miracle that flowers were blooming.
I love the palm trees!
Our hotel in Orlando was like oasis to me! It had spa, 2 giant fire pits, 3 pools, including a lazy river and the pool was open until 11. I wish I was there now. :)
>
Above is a picture of the giant Convention centre we could walk from our hotel to. It just happens that there was a Home & Flower show while we were there, so me and my mother-in-law went.
This is the flower girl that met us at the door!

These are some contemporary decoration for your garden, I think they might be a little too big for mine! :))

Some nice flower displays and ideas for local gardens. I haven't seen any palm trees around here.

The butterfly was painted on a concreate. I guess even concrete doesn't have to boring anymore.
I like the smart idea for more storage in the garage. You think I can store fabrics up there? :)

Have you heard of Crystal Soil? I got some to try it out! I just love the colors!

It was fun, but there is no place like home!
I have a few more Florida pictures to share with you, so stay tuned...
