Happy Birthday to my Mom!

Happy Birthday Mom!
I know my mom loves lilac so I took these pictures of my lilac for her!
She lives in Bulgaria and I miss her a lot. I hope we will see each other soon.
I love that we have purple and white lilac! Can you smell it? :)

Secret Project - Baby Quilt

I can reveal one of the secret projects I have been working on. I made a baby quilt for my friend Amanda's baby.

It's gonna be a baby girl! She was surprised at the baby shower last Sunday!

This is Amanda and me posing with the baby quilt.

The quilt has all the letters from the alphabet and different animal for each letter.

I first did quilting in a ditch and then decided to do stippling in the border and in the sashing. I was gonna use the purple fabric for main background , but then I decided that I needed something more plain and run to my local quilt shop and picked up pink fusion fabric.

Here is a close up of the first block and my quilting.

Welcome to our Living Room

I wanted to share how my "Pineapple Welcome Quilt" looks on the wall in the living room!
I think this quilt belongs there! It does look so natural on the "Pumpkin Burst" color on the wall.

Thank you to my hubby for hang it! He likes it too! He is on a business trip to Chicago and I miss him!

I hope my guests will feel very Welcome with that quilt on the wall!

Quilt Festival

I have been busy sewing this week and I haven't post. I saw lots of my on line friends joined the Quilt festival. Amy from Park City Girl is hosting it.

I am showing my wedding quilt. I started this quilt before my wedding with my mother in-law and some of her friends and mom mom. The fabric was a gift from my mother-in-law and she helped me pick the fabric, but my color choices were based on my favorite color green and my husband's orange. I hope you like it :))

I am very proud of this quilt, because I quilted it on a domestic machine and the quilt is huge. I just did quilting in a ditch, but it was difficult, so I am very excited to try my quilting frame..... very soon!

It's fun visiting all the quilt blogs and looking at the quilts! Take time and visit Amy's blog and looked at more then 550 quilting blogs!

Spring mood

It's cloudy and rainy outside. It's a good thing I took pictures of my garden yesterday. I love those purple tulips!

Hyacinths are one of my favorite flowers! I should plant some more next fall.

I am getting into a Spring mood, but it's still cold. Hopefully it will soon warm up and I can go garden. Right now I better get sewing. :) I finished piecing my Blue and Yellow quilt on Saturday! Yepee! I told my husband: "It's done!" But he smiled and said: "You mean it's pieced and needs quilting?!" Isn't he smart! :)

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a happy and peaceful Easter. I sure did!
I had an Easter lunch with my family. After that our friends Heather and Chuck stopped by and we played "Boom Blox" on the Wii. We had a lot of fun!

This is a Easter table runner I made for my Mom. I recently just finished the binding. My Mom is in Bulgaria, so I am gonna take to her when we go there to visit her.

These a close up of one of the stars. I used a linen fabric. I like the texture it adds to the table runner.

Aren't these colors pretty? There are the neon food coloring we got for decorations for our Easter cookies.

Here are few of the cookies decorated. I liked to mix the colors and my hubby like more plain ones.

Here are all of them! Can you find the Z-cookie? My hubby made it for me. I made an S-cookies for him and he ate it already. :) I love all the colors and the cookies were melting in your mouth. I used my mom's recipe for easter cookies.

I also made Easter bread. My new mixer was very useful for the job. The more you mix Easter bread the better it gets. I had to modify my mom's recipe for the mixer. My mom makes it by hand. It has a lot of butter and golden raisins. That's why it soo good! Here is the bread rising in the bread pan.

I made 3 loafs from my recipe.

Update, update..........

I know my Birthday was last month, but I didn't post the cake my hubby got me. It was an ice cream cake from Donkin Donuts and he decorated himself - the candles and the writing! I am very proud of him!

Thank you Scot! :-*

I also want to show our new toy. It is a Kitchen Aid Professional 600. It is a B-day gift to me and my hubby from my parents in-law. We are very happy so far with it, so if you are in the market for a good mixer I would suggest this one. It came with a bread hook and we have been making bread since we got it!

Thank you Mom and Dad!

This the first bread Scot made! It was yummy and was gone fast! We made pizza few times, but it was so delicious that I forgot to take pictures.

This the first bread I made. It is a whole wheat. I was worried that it might be too sweat because the recipe called for a 1/4 cup honey, but it was very tasty! The only problem was that my pan was not very good and the bread stuck to it. We got new pans now and the bread slides off it! What a difference a good pan makes.

I made a sticky lemon chicken for a second time. My hubby loves it! It is a chef Ramsey from "Hell's Kitchen"recipe. We are big fans of the show and I saw him future this dish on tv. You can watch him preparing the dish here or on the post bellow this one.

Bon Apetit!

Spring Table Runner

I crossed another project off my to do list! I used the same Ribbon Star Table Runner pattern I used on another project, but made the sides curved to fit my table.
I used to use this table for my sewing machine, but now I have a new table with adjustable legs from Ikea. This is my Janome 6125 machine. I have abandoned my Janome, because I really love the stitch on the Baby Lock QCP.

I had to do the binding on bias because of the curved sides. The pattern was a Christmas inspired, but using bright colors, looks very different! I love that butterfly fabric and it was my inspiration for picking the other fabrics. Here is a closer picture of the table runner:
